Hi folks, im new here & to Ableton. Midi Q?

Hi all, ive been through the lesson on setting my Axiom 25 up in the prefrences/ midi tab, & i still have no midi? In the dropdown list of keyboards it has axiom, axiom 25 classic, & so on. I've tried them all to no avail. When i first installed Live Lite M-Audio Enhanced version 6 i got the indicator receiving midi i then got the free upgrade to 8 & nowt? Please help as i would really like to get stuck into this beast

Hi Ianp, welcome to the forum!

Sounds like you need to enable the Axiom further down the MIDI preferences page as well. The drop-down MIDI controllers list at the top of the page is used for setting up controllers with Automap, and also for setting up custom control surface setups.

However, you don't necessarily have to use the top section. But you will need to enable the Axiom as inputs (and outputs, if required) in the lower section.

In the pics below (substituting my Ozonic for your Axiom) both these setups would work:

Thanks Pitch Black, Got midi now, but in the top ive put my axiom, then the input & output just has usb audio device not axiom? To my knowledge the axiom does'nt have a soundcard, or does it? In the bottom ive got, input delta AP midi, On. Below that, input axiom_25 classic input (usb audio, below that ive, input, usb audio device [2]. Outputs below that, axiom 25 classic output (usb audio), below that output, microsoft GS wavetable SW synth, below that, output, delta AP midi. The first output is in red & ive put it on. Is this correct? & the axiom 25 i have is the graphite coloured 1, is this the classic? Thanks again for your help

um... theres a few too many questions there that are specific to your setup. (I'm a mac guy too so that might not help)
I gather you're talking about the Audio prefs page now. Basically, what audio interface/soundcard are you wanting to use? You should select that in the Audio Output Device field, and then below that in the Input and Output Config fields, set the number of physical hardware outputs you want to use.
