just wondering...
8.1.1 = 853mb
8.1.2b7 = 332.5mb
is non-essential stuff chopped from the beta versions, or has Live had a dramatic optimisation

I've removed every Live Pack, preset, and sample that Ableton supplied in the Library.
I don't 'produce.' I write music.

the 'default content' folder is not in the library, it's embedded in the app itself (on mac at least).
i think they're there for when you use 'repair library'; it installs any missing packs from the installers inside the app.
anyway i deleted it and its not caused any problems. all good.
on mac: right-click Live icon > show package contents > contents > app resources > defaultpackages
there's 500mb of livepack installers to delete if you so wish.

Ohhhh. Is that where Analog, Operator, etc are all hiding? I know I've seen a folder in there when dropping in new skins that housed the Ableton instruments, and since I only have Sampler I've been tempted to ditch the rest of them.
