power adaptor/wall wart for european synth

hello to all

a friend of mine is selling a Yamaha SY-35 for cheap, but there is no power adaptor and it was bought many years ago in Switzerland. I was wondering what kind of adapter I would need for that as I live in Canada.
On the back of the synth it says 10-12 volts... what does that mean? It can take any current from 10 to 12 volts?

-check for your amperes ("mA")
-and make sure the polarities are right ("-0)+")

have you been using it in canada already? if not make sure the voltage is all set (220 / 110)

I haven't used it, I might buy it if i can find an unexpensive adapter.

I'm looking for a product, maybe some type of wall-wart that is designed for people travelling with their synths, or buying synths overseas.

best post a pic of what it says, your description is a bit tweaked.

10-12V probably means 10-12V DC. that means you want to connect it to a power supply that puts out between 10 and 12 Volts DC. any more than that could fry the device, any less and it won't power up.

agreed, look for current requirements. if it says 500mA (for example) then you want a supply that can put out AT LEAST 500mA. unlike the voltage spec you want the current spec to be more than what the device wants. it will only draw what it needs.

you'll probably need to take it to an electronics retailer to try the various plug sizes as well. that's the easiest way.

all this can be rigged, no problem, just buy it. you can probably use the power supply from an old junked out computer, they'll have various voltages on them, including 12Volts and way more current than you'll need.
