AFAIK it's a synth generator with samples combination, that has the ability for the user to also use .wav files in the way some softsynths do.

Here is the blurb
Kick Synthesizer VSTi / over 330 Kick Drum Presets / over 1800 Attack Sample Presets / over 150 Sine Oscillator Presets / ability to integrate own WAV samples / realtime & smooth graphic envelopes / flexible pitch & velocity routings / play tonal kicks! / huge mod matrix with every parameter / every presets comes with assigned modwheel and 3 GUI controls / GUI control knobs freely re-nameable / 6 high quality effects built in / 2 filters for every layer / 3 drive distortion models / 2 band parametric EQ / randomizer function / all parameters automatable / output limiter (you can turn it off if wanted) / 100% timing accurate and click free

I confess, it doesn't excite me much either, but I'm all for people bringing different possibilities and gear to the forum, instead of trying to be narrow minded control freaks.

sure. My position is that people should believe in what they say and speak from a position that is somewhere beyond total ignorance. You've already told me way more about the plug in than the op. Maybe i should lighten up. Take it easy

I was referring to romanh who pops up with his 'viral marketing' messages, anytime someone posts anything about a product not released by Ableton. This wasn't a pot shot at you, you asked a fair question !

Kicklab XXL is alright, but nothing extraordinary. IMO Operator is all you need as a kick synth. Layer that with simplers in a drum rack and you got killer kicks.

i would like to say fuck you but i will not ,

i read the review , i misundertood it , so what ? and no i dont change my mind i love pure synthesis methods.

You could do all that with Live its Rack feature.
Though, it could boost the work flow, maybe, or give inspiration when you are just messing around with it.

Im actually building this type of rack as we speak. Similar to KickLab XXL.

But the 8 macros is limiting in comparison. Id need 8 macros for each layer. From there its a few extra levels of abstraction to mouse click through. But with using macros you can set the min and max level of effect, tuned specifically for drums.

I could perhaps find the XXL usable.. Are there any demos of it? Only found the free, synth section only, XL version.

marco? limited?
i see no problem, then i can directly assign midicontrollerbutton to simpler(filter, pitch) or compressor(attak, realase)or what eve.
you midicontroller(number of the konobs) is you limitation not the drumrack.

http://www.ismism.de/BazzISM.htm - it's cheap, kicks so much ass, and works fantastically well in a chain with Live's plugs like Compressor and Saturator. And it cuts through mixes, either as a sub embellishment or as a punchy kick. Can't be beat, even with a high-profile german sample thingy costing 10x.

Yeah I'm into synth kick drums as well--- I'm really into making chromatic percussion sounds with fm synths.
For me the big deal is - you say check out this vst - it makes killer kick sounds, it's not freeware, so you are engaged in viral marketing whether you like it or not. Then when someone else bothers to read about it you realise either -
1) that it doesn't make 'killer kick sounds' after all,
or
2) that the sound generation technique is so lame that you're not interested.

In any case plenty of people have checked out the site.

Then leedsquietman reads the product specification - it turns out that it is a hybrid synthesis and sample playback machine - so even your disavowal is somewhat confused.

I'm sorry for kicking off - particularly if you are genuinely acting out of excitement rather than a desire to earn from pay per click advertising - but the main challenge of working with the internet is maintaining a decent signal to noise ratio, and as far as I can see you're adding to the confusion. I don't want to get into a flamewar so I'm leaving it there - the last word is yours.

I used it a while back, but it kept on crashing. So I stopped. Anyway, I can do almost the same thing with Operator, so no need for it.

I have created a drum rack with 2 layers: Operator as the synth kick, and Sampler as the sampled kick. Pretty much works as the XXL. But because of the size limitations of Abletons device design, its not possible to see all the parameters in one page. So I can definitely see a speed advantage in the work flow, using KickLab XXL or the Metrum.
Essentially the rack will be a 2 page view. The synth rack and the sample rack, in parallel chains. I will probably stay with it though.

Because, guess what:

You're the first person to say Bazzism crashes. There were some crashes with a released version of v1, but we're already at v2, and it's rock solid. I also recall emailing the developer when those crashes occurred, and he fixed it lickety split. Also, it's a CPU lover, as opposed to an Operator/Sampler Rack.

Never had a problem with it crashing.

Ok, it was a while back. Was probably v.1. :)
