USB External HD Problem

When using samples located on my ext hd, i get horrible lag and clips don't even play half the time. When i use clips on the internal, its fine. The hd is a brand new seagate 120gb usb 2.0 compatible, 7200rpm. I'm thinking they just included a 1.1 cable instead of a 2.0, but I'd like to make sure that there aren't any problems loading samples using usb 2.0 before I buy a 2.0 cable to replace it. Is there any way I can check the cable type?

Hi Benjamin B,

Did you checked the access time of your HD?
I had the same kind of problem with a 7200RPM FW HD and since I changed it for a HD with better access time, it is really better.
