kp3 as midi slave for live looping?

I've heard some people say that the kp3 doesn't sync well? does it receive or send midi sync? And how well does live loop recording work while the thing is synced to another device?
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

When I had one, it synced just fine. IIRC, it sent and recieved via the USB.
