Musik Messe 2010
Musik Messe 2010
Least interesting ever. Each year companies drop out - Logic already 5 or more years back, NI 2-3 year, same with Ableton and Propellerheads. Many of those present say openly that once in 2 years would be more then enough.
Hardly any interesting, new products unless you consider guitar doorbell- http://www.guitdoorbell.com (this idiotic gadget made it to first page of Messe Journal!) or tenori-on in orange as ground breaking.
Messe is still fun for socialising, meeting friends from the industry, otherwise boring.
Only memorable moment - Giovani Hidalgo jamming with Raul Rekow, I have seen lots of Hidalgo`s videos but live it is something else, simply unbelievable, there never was probably never be conga player of the kind.

Yes - but there is Wavelab 7 FOR MAC (and pc as usual). And updates to Cubase 5.5 coming soon - so not all bad !!
Basically - they should do the trade show once per year, rotating between Anaheim and Frankfurt. 2 or more trade shows per year is too much.

Steinberg is the only major player still in Frankfurt game but I found the breakaway team even more interesting. Presonus sponsored 4 years of development and the result is Studio One. I spent some time with the developers(very smart chaps), from what I was shown, looks like cleaned up, simplified Nuendo/Cubase. The best of it the mastering section which is not included in free version that comes with Presonus products though upgrade is not much. Controller midi mapping system is also very sleek. I might give it a try since those mastering functionalities impressed me, specially that most of it we might never see in Live but with rewire could be perfect.
I dont know how they will be able to compete with well established DAW`s specially Logic which is, thanks to Apple, so attractively priced.
Vestax released Ableton 600 controller in black which not only looks better but is more readable due to contrast.
Sad news, Clavia not only dropped modular for good but there are no even any plans to make anything in this direction. So any lucky owner of original or G2 who does not like/use it should wait, I can imagine modulars prices going 303 way.

I've given up expecting any. I wouldnt be surprised if they ditched the whole powercore range in favour of a guitar focused product range, its where they seem to be headed ... :/aisling wrote:while still working on those powercore "drivers".....re.mark wrote:TC Electronic seem to have announced a bunch of products here, that they announced a few months back in Namm...

You migh be right. TC stand is gone from the usual place, they had only one in the the "guitar" hall with bass and guitar gear, nothing else.re.mark wrote:I've given up expecting any. sure.. the gear sluts are fed up with digital stuff and are lusting for analog class a germanium pres ...
But all the longhaird guitar wombels still can be told that digital is the holy grail and that they should sell theire oldfashioned marshal stacks to buy a plastic box with a decend marshal with good tubes emulation...
and ableton is not there? with the over all impressive and phantastic mfl the "smart" dedicated controlers and the new never crashing version of live 8 there would have been so much to show .. or not..
and akai? any good rotary dial faderboxes in sight?

Re: Musik Messe 2010
Akai? You wont believe it but their new product is SLIDE SCANNER!!! But when I saw it, was hardly surprised after seeing rest of that messe circus, must admit examined it carefully to be sure I am not hallucinating, who a fuck needs slide scanner in 2010, even.. if...looking for it at a MUSIC trade fair? I should have probably listed the slide scanner along with guitar dorrbell and Yamaha orange tenori on.3phase wrote:sure.. the gear sluts are fed up with digital stuff and are lusting for analog class a germanium pres ...

maybe it creates a great sound when smashed on the floor?
too bad.. actually from the basics akai could do a rotary fader box that dont sucks..
the best bit about the apc are the realy nice rotarys... i defently would have been in a knob only versiuon of the apc.. and would have bben a good companion to the apc 20 anyway.... 2 half szise units are better on stage than one big one.. at least more flexible...

Re: Musik Messe 2010
Akai Professional came out with a slide scanner? For real?
Re: Musik Messe 2010
I can enjoy seeing weird products, crazy ideas, there are always some individuals trying to sell their what they think are groundbreaking, innovative ideas like a mini roller that let you draw 5 lines (for music notation) or the guitardoorbell.
I was passing Akai stand, not much interests since I knew they new annoucment and saw that little gadget. I actually stopped, even put my finger inside, read description unsure if I am really awake or at wrong trade fair. I could have some understanding for Musicians Espresso machine or studio vacuum cleaner (so far have not seen such) but slides scanner? Specially that I made my last slides sometime mid 90s.
