Why can't I stay minimal? [New Track]

Post by Fluid Karma » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:58 am

Hey guys and girls,

here's a new track on my soundcloud! This one was planned to be a minimal track, but somehow it got a life of its own and got out of hand - obviously I just can't stay minimal and cling to melody and atmosphere too much. :)
So, let's label it Tech House. Any comments are greatly appreciated, as this is my first attempt to this kind of stuff and I am open to criticism of all kind. Especially comments to mixing and mastering issues are very welcome (that subby bass line was hard to tame and I am not sure I nailed it :)).

Thanks a lot for listening,

Greetings, Axel

hey FK i like the track. good vibes in there. only thing i think you should do is to make the break at 2:20 little bit longer and little bit more interesting, the rest is awesome. sry not much on mix and master coz im not on proper speakers.

best,
nfk

Hey NFK,

thanks for your feedback! I'll think about the break again (maybe put some additional 8 Bars to it), but actually I made it that short on purpose because I thought minimal style music mostly comes with not that long breaks.
But, ok, as it turned out to be more tech house than minimal, you're probably right!
I'll keep you updated on the changes!

Thanks again for your comments and for following on Soundcloud!

Nicely done Fluid. Have to agree with Sanderr though. The kick is too weak. It was a pleasure to listen to and the groove is definitely happening. Good work.

Hey Sander, Terrence and Paulo,

thanks a million for commenting on my track. I really appreciate the suggestions you all made and will give the track a makeover in the next few days. I completely missed the issue concerning the kick. As the track originally was meant to be minimal style, I built a less punchy kick on purpose... but as the track got more and more baroque during the production process, I think you are all right that it deserves more pumping!
I'll keep you updated on the changes!

Thanks a lot for listening, it's really motivating to read about you guys diggin' the track. :D
