Clipping/Distortion/bass'ing out when i tweak autofilter...

Post by scrattyrat » Fri Mar 26, 2010 5:47 pm

Hi, im fairly new to production and have a bass noise in my track that i have an autofilter on, with some automation tweaking it. Im getting some good sounds out of it but i keep getting the problem of the volume shooting into the red a lot of the time (also with other tracks/bass noises and other effects too..)

Ive tried turning the volume down but then the whole noise is just too quiet.

Anyone got any tips on how to stop it going in the red when i tweak effects? Ive played around with a compressor but not sure if thats the right tool for this, or if what im doing in the 1st place is just a no-no in terms of making decent sounding basslines?

any help much appreciated!

It sounds like you have the resonance set a little to high, try turning that down a touch (possibly quite a big touch!!)

yeah. You could try to understand what is happening to the signal. :) a limiter is quicker. Jus' foolin'.
