Controler Design. Do actual Crtlr really adress stage needs?

Machinedrum knobs can be changed, the encoders can't as they are custom built for Elektron.

Personally the APC40 is like my dream stage controller, has everything I need and the size is perfect. I really like the fact it's a little bigger, any smaller and you need to be too careful that you don't press the wrong thing. I use mine solo with the laptop, using a Stanton Uberstand to raise my laptop above the APC.

If I ever need a truly small set up, I also have a Kenton Kilamix mini too, doesn't get much smaller than that.

teh APC szise would go ok whenit would have a propper cliplaunch matrix and not this for optical proportions designed 5 row shit..

that is only good for people that work in the classicla playback szenarion..

instead full ülayback you have intro break center break ending..

i dont think thats enough.. having an 8x8 matrix in exactly the same box would have been easily possible.. it just wouldnt look so pretty than anymor with all the square buttons..

But ableton clips are not square... would even help the overview to do that wright...

the encoders are nice.. but 8 of them are conceptionaly wasted..what is a pitty..



Same as with the luchpad.. a good start... great ideas... but how the product went out in the end actualy really sucks somehow
when you see how close that actually was/is to a perfect problem solving product..
Its remarkabel how little care in details or depth in design is apllied here..

I relation to that the roland tb 303 is the product of a genius.. one man versus a design team.. that wnats to finish the job early.

Probably they have one guy with good ideas that get crypled and canibalized then by some projektmanagers that were thrown into theier position by the peter principle

Even if the buttons are square, they could still make them smaller. Case in point: monomes. Even the monome 256 is about the same size as the Launchpad while having 4 times as many buttons. I'm actually ok with the size of the Launchpad though. APC40, on the other hand, is unnecessarily big and it's ridiculous that it's not even bus-powered.

Agreed.

Does anyone know if Apple is allowing 3rd party app development on the iPad straight out of the gate? I would LOVE to have the iPad + touchOSC combination on that large screen. Even better if the iPad is sensitive enough to use it for drum pads. Think about having 2 or 3 iPads on stage controlling various devices.

I personally like the size of the APC40. I could not see myself running anything smaller.

I've 2 turntables, mixer, 2 keyboards (trust me I need em), APC40 and my laptop.

I constantly bounce from one thing to the next... MANY times I am doing one thing and need to quickly look and punch a button, move a slider or rotary real quick then get back to what I was doing.

For me it needs to be visually discernable at the blink of an eye where a parameter is and it has to have enough space that I can quickly change it without accidentally bumping another input. I move fast and can't be bothered with needing to stop and look at a controller to make sure I'm pressing the correct 1 button out of 100+ on the thing.

See it, hit it, get back to what I was doing.

I prefer larger.
