Beatport
They must be all off their head on mdma, some of the tracks on that place make me want to put together about 5 loops, add some reverb and use an ozone4 preset on the master channel then setup my own label and submit it to them.
they will probably accept my track and put it under "acid detroit tech house"
wtf beatport?

Re: Beatport
The ting that I find the worst about Beatport is the heres a snippet on which you must judge the entire tune worthy of buying. Ive bought alot of duffs because of this.
Good that more and more labels are putting stuff up on there.
Outside Traxsource do they have any major competition? that is the only way they will up their game
Agreed though theres alot of tripe on there
On a side note there is a definite trend of big name djs setting remix comps on the increase, which aint a bad thing.....Im just chewing the fat with yall
Its certainly a good way of extracting more money off a tune you may not normally purchase.

Re: Beatport
the thing with beatport is to use the favourite labels and artists functions - just add the ones you are interested in and when you log in it tells you down the bottom left which ones have new releases.... I find that to be a great quality control because I just take off the labels that don't come out with good stuff after a while
plus they also have a 'hold bin' so I just spend the month going through tracks and adding them, then by pay day I whittle it down from about 100 to about 10 and usually by that point they are all decent
works for me

Re: Beatport
I'm also buying from Juno a lot more than from BeatPort atm.
It's more like an old fashioned, bricks and mortar shop where the staff use their skill and knowledge to filter out the less good stuff.

Re: Beatport
I was on Juno last night. I went through about 50 pages of new releases in Electro House. It was mostly bunk. No better than BeefPork.Ben_Binary wrote:http://www.junodownload.com
I'll check out whatpeopleplay.com tonight.
I miss the Record Stores.

Re: Beatport
+1
All of these internet labels are 85-90% crap and require a lot of searching to find the diamond in the rough. (pretty much true about music in general).
Having said that many major label breakout hits and pop also rely on a few choice samples and loops run through heavy volume maximizers. If people will buy that crap in bulk off i-tunes, you can see why so many people on Beatport and elsewhere will copy that model. It's lazy, derivative and sounds bad (sonically and aesthetically) but it's like selling oil to the Americans... easy because they have such a need. There's so little originality these days. Last night I saw Usher and Diddy on American Idol (purely by chance channel surfing) and the music they did was the same 808 beats with T-Pain ridiculous autotune FX that they were doing 7 or 8 years ago with some new lyrics.
