There's something not quite right about the track. I'm not saying that in a bad way, more like an odd track Tarentino would put in one of his movies like "It doesn't really work....and yet it does".

Yea its a weird hodgepodge. Rather standard metal > quintuplet off rhythm thing > dub metal > standard metal. I blame the weed. There's something about those transitions I really like though....this track is definitely a product of me making what I want to hear, even if its odd. Hahaha, at least I resisted putting some death metal vocals in there!

Certainly nothing wrong with being original.

Not to threadjack your post but since you are into metal, check out my friend's side project. I'm not asking you to check it out simply because it's metal, but because I'm am fully 8O that the drums are all samples and programmed MIDI sequences. No real drummer to be found.

He's normally into writing soundtrack-ish electronica but as he puts it "unfortunately I'm surrounded by metal heads." So when in Rome...

Yea those drums are impressively well programmed! I really dig the combination of different styles and the unexpected transitions and changes. Nice!

I had a momentary thought of Helios Creed when I listened to your track.....

Yea sure man go for it! I can send you a link to a wav version if you want, or even the stems if you're really interested.

ok, i used the mp3, see what you think http://utenzil.com/mp3/nowords-1.mp3

I either augmented the spatial aspects and added an interesting melodic hook or stirred in some murk and gummed it up with cheezy synth. :D

:D :D
Haha, that's sweet! The guitar melody you added in the beginning was exactly what I had tried to accomplish with a synth at one point, but couldn't get it right. I really like that. That synth was giving me some pink floyd moments there! I really dig the timbre....exactly the sound I had tried to get for the beginning.

:D :D Very fun! Thanks for making that!

:D cool, glad you like it.:D

it is a pretty nice track, edginess with structure, so I liked it and just thought it needed something to focus on in the start :D

btw, the synth is one I made with synthedit (so windows only) but you can get it here:

http://utenzil.com/vst/krapalon.dll

the initial setting I happened to save it with has the resonance turned up overmuch, turn it down a little, turn up the portamento a bit and add some reverb and that is pretty much what you are hearing.
