arpeggiators
What's a good VST/DX arpeggiator that can be placed before any soft synth? It needs to be very customizable (ie: more patterns than what Live offers).

Catanya seems very cool. I can't use it because it's windows only, but I wish it were mac too. Although I'd still probably use Kontakt's arp since it has swing.
Oh ya, if you have Kontakt, use the arpeggiator in it's script presets. It's great, fully customizable pattern and lots of options. Send midi out from that. It's exactly the arp I was looking for and didn't even realize it was there.
There's also Sugar Bytes consequence which is very full featured but a little pricey if you just want an arp. Might as well get Kontakt!
