bingo. if not a 3rd view, the ability to display the session view (scaled differently) twice ...so until then & the addition of dual monitor support, using a touchscreen monitor to control ableton's interface directly = fail.
imvho of course

I program and operate Lighting consoles for a living, and have been using touchscreens for over 10 years..... they are good in a programming settings, like in the studio, BUT in a live performance setting, you can't focus your eyes at one screen all the time, you need to be able to grab it and look away while operating, thats where physical buttons and sliders are still necessary. An APC and a touchscreen combo, now were talkin'...... My goal is to use the APC with no screen.
lights, drums, techno

I always wanted a third "performance view" but to have it be more like Logic Mainstage where you can have a dashboard of controls from many different racks/tracks in one place. (you have been able to do this in FL Studio for a really long time now).
Would be pretty cool.
+1 for will never give up knobs but also +1 for adding touch interfaces next to them! Hooray for multiple USB ports.

3rd view already exists...
and you can use it, compose it, design it exactly as you want
it is called: max for live in full screen mode

I've never heard of this "max for live". Is there a free runtime? :p

I'm not touching this technology until Muldover makes an overpriced custom touchscreen controller.

will do.
And while you're here, do you have anything to contribute on the topic of multi-touch monitors interfacing Live etc ?
Or is it really just the smell of my loins that drew you in ?
