Live crashes on my notebook and desktop PC

I though it was a problem of my notebook but... I don´t think so about my recently installed win2k and LUNA sound card.

I played some live set at clubs and it crashes on 3 times... imagine my face

to the P.A.

Does any body experienced the same?

please give us more details about the crash.

What is your hardware configuration?
What type of crash you had?
Was Live just crashed or the complete operating system?
Do you get any error message?
Is it crashed directly after a special action in Live or more 'randomly'?

sorry for the delay

What is your hardware configuration?
My desktop PC is PIII 1Ghz, 512SDRAM, WIN2k SmallServer, Creamware Luna sound card, MatroxG450DualHead for Graphics.
And my notebook is PIV 1.8Ghz, 256DDR RAM, Not very good motherboard and graphics (SIS), WIN98SE, M-AUDIO USB QUATTRO.

What type of crash you had?
Was Live just crashed or the complete operating system?
Do you get any error message?
Is it crashed directly after a special action in Live or more 'randomly'?

Simply the sound goes.. without any message at any time... maybe when I move the scroll/zoom. Then I must reboot, but win98SE still run ok.

Last time the sound was ok. But when i was playing some minutes the mouse pointer disappear! I only could see it moving it over the task bar, not over Live display ¿?¿?¿?

I´m not sure.. but I think it´s not an ableton problem

Hi,

really difficult to say if it's a problem of Live. Maybe it is, maybe not.

On the other hand, we have no experience with any server version of windows. Normally it should not be a problem, but who knows -:).

If you'll get some of the problems again you could try to find a way to reproduce it.

To keep live from crashing on my machine:

1) Disable all irrelevant hardware - your network card in particular.

2) Close all servers, firewalls, and network related software.

3) If you're using windows, turn off the animation of all menus and interface elements.

These tricks have always worked for me. I have never experienced a crash while playing Live live.

Thanks chis, but I ever do those kind of system improovements too.

NOW I need to know more advanced system changes. for my notebook running Win98SE. Specialy to improove data transfer from/to the Hard disk, i think it´s very slow. Or if you recommend any HD to buy for portable computers.

Hi me,

we have no recommendation for a special harddisk notebook but if the harddisk supports DMA you should check if DMA is switched on in Windows98. After the Windows98 installation the DMA is often switched off by default.
