Using Live instead of Peak or Audacity to chop samples?

I'm sure many of you are getting tired of having to go through the tedious process of dragging a whole song into a basic editing program like Peak or Audacity and break it into individual .wav files with their own fade ins and fade outs. I have been looking on youtube for different people's methods of chopping inside Live. I like this guy's method of re-chopping beats (http://www.youtube.com/user/bboyspaz#p/u/64/hLlkXR5dmkQ) but this is after he's already taken this loop from the original song using Peak. I'm talking about starting from the whole song... Is there any way to use a similar method inside ableton, and bounce each new loop setting out as actual .wav files. (because you can only save one clip setting per file, correct?) I prefer to keep all of my samples in the iTunes library folder, so I can easily keep track of key, bpm and genre for each different sample. So actually, even if I could create multiple .asd files for a single mp3(without having to chop it) iTunes would not be able to recognize different .asd files as different parts of a song. So, I guess that I am stuck with having to create separate .wav files, but I just with there was an easier way to do this inside Live. What about the render as loop option. Is there any way to tell Live to "render as loops(plural)." Like say if you copied the clip with all the different loop settings you wanted going down the track by scene (in the session view) then somehow could highlight all of those sequential clips and render them as individual loop files with the different clip settings already saved. Probably impossible, but it would be awesome for a future release! Any other ideas?

Another problem this would solve is having to warp every sample individually after I got it categorized in iTunes and dropped into Live. If I could figure out a way to do everything in Ableton, I could tune the sample and warp the whole thing at once. Then I would be guaranteed that whatever other samples I took from the original would be in key and on time. I've started using Ableton for just about everything else in my musical process. But if I could just figure out a way to chop samples, Ableton would finally become my one-stop-shop for everything.

i don't know

i've never used an external program to crop. i don't see why it's necessary

it sounds like you just need to split up the song, set up each section as a clip, and then crop or consolidate

yeah i'm a bit retarded on this one, but can't you chop a sample rename it with title/key/tempo and call it a day? turn it into a drumrack even with pitch controls and whatever else you fancy. for the categorization of songs/samples make a folder within ableton for that and chop it up. you will then have an archive of all tracks already chopped and ready to go. shit put 3,,, 17 tracks of the same song chopped every way you want in that piece and can all be accessed from the browser on the left, with different styles of chops be it midi or audio or follow action sytle clips.

Thanks! I think I found a solution with the consolidate feature. I still have a few questions though. First, why is it saving all of my samples in my VST plugins folder (MacintoshHD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/Tmp_#) ? Is there any way to customize this location? I looked in File/Folder in the Preferences but no luck. Secondly, why do I have to drag the clips to the arrangement view first, in order to be able to consolidate them? And where can you find the "crop" function? Maybe that's actually what I should be doing. But so far, this consolidation method seems to do what I want: create new .aiff files with pre-stored clip information. Quick, easy, no fades... Great tip! Thanks,
