macbook battery advice please...

Just ordered a new battery for my macbook as the current one snuffed it....

Whats the best practice for prolonging the life? should I always let it fully charge then run out or just keep it plugged in when possible?

I left mine plugged in for 3 years.
It finally "expanded." (i.e. Almost blew up or something.) It only had 23cycles and had a 94% health rating.

Not sure if leaving it plugged in effected the batteries hourly life.

If you do leave it plugged in, just make sure when you notice that one day your trackpad doesn't work anymore, check the back for a bloated battery. XD

For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her MacBook Pro on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month.

I was a victim of bloated battery as well. turns out my mbp only runs at 60% cpu power without the battery (this is a "feature" according to apple). anyway, dont buy batteries from apple, at least not in europe. i got mine from duracell's webshop and the price was less than 2/3.

Theres a guy on ebay selling loads, they are billed as 'used' but my mates have bought a few and they have only been through 1/2 cycles and work fine. Id be happy to get a year out of it : )

£20.00 inc postage, beats paying apple 80 quid or something!
