iPad - touchscreen dongle
That's the vibe I'm getting at this very moment in time.
When the format is cracked, and you can load it up with your ill-gotten softwarez I wonder if companies will be so quick to do exclusive development deals with apple ?
Call it a brainfart, but I figured I'd share this thought with my fellow loungers.
maybe the format is already cracked ? I dunno.

Re: iPad - touchscreen dongle
One of the best articles I've read so far about the iPad. I mean, the author is clearly another socialist anti-capitalist everything should be open source hippie, but thoughtful nonetheless.

cheers for the link,
the author speaks the truth
one of his iPad criticisms reflects the one thing I really think it has going for it.
it's retard proof, in otherwords ''mom can use it''

You're really hell bent on this one, aren't ya.
It doesn't matter how many useful apps the open development community comes up with and for dirt cheap to the consumer. You're just going to be pissed off.
Nobody is preventing competitor companies from developing something similar.

I'm merely making observations on a new and upcoming device... I could end up owning one, who knows ?
Perhaps you're projecting... you've got a gear-boner for the iPad and any observation that isn't glowing praise you get really defensive about.
All I've said on the topic of iPad:
[a] it's not a 'lemur killer'...all those ipad v lemur threads are asinine.
it's a shit e-reader, don't even try and pimp it to me on those terms
[c] the super-closed nature of the format puts me off.
sorry bud - but that doesn't make me a hater, just someone who's thinking independently.

Yeah, maybe I'm just projecting. It's probably the result of the general insults you craftily hurl around the forum. Carry on. I have no real insight into this topic.

I could name 5 frequent posters off the top of my head who make similarly toned/worded statements to mine. and just as frequently, on average.beats me wrote:Yeah, maybe I'm just projecting. But your comments really stand above the herd. Give yourself some credit.dum wrote:I could name 5 frequent posters off the top of my head who make similarly toned/worded statements to mine. and just as frequently, on average.beats me wrote:Yeah, maybe I'm just projecting. Re: iPad - touchscreen dongle
I thought that bit was really well written. The way you improve your iPad isn't to figure out how it works and making it better. The way you improve the iPad is to buy iApps. Buying an iPad for your kids isn't a means of jump-starting the realization that the world is yours to take apart and reassemble; it's a way of telling your offspring that even changing the batteries is something you have to leave to the professionals.
Even so I'd still love to get one for my mother but probably wont as I have more important things to do, like take a second job to help pay for the health care that my employer just took away.

Re: iPad - touchscreen dongle
Claim chowder for Dum. Appears point 2 - "shit e-reader" may also be ... wrong.
Re: iPad - touchscreen dongle
A magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price.

Love Cory Doctorow. Little Brother is a good read, particularly if you live in the SF Bay Area.LoopStationZebra wrote:One of the best articles I've read so far about the iPad.
