Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?

Hi, really enjoying the maschine.

Here is a teaser of the new liveset I'm workin' on :

All is done in the maschine as a VST within live, and Massive for some additive synths.

All routings, sidechaining, compression, done in Live.

everything played live with maschine for this recording session (tracks are a bit too long, that's always the case when I record live tracks - there is no arrangement made in live)

All sounds and effects, except drums, rises, massive synths (and of course compression/sidechaining, routing), come from maschine library.

I'm enjoying LOTS OF FUN with maschine. Let the groove come back!!

Maschine is cool for sure..but cant you get the same basic sequencing for drums with a MPD and ableton?

Are you sure you understand what is actually "cool" about it?

It's all about the hardware style workflow that you can only get with dedicated hardware which makes it feel more like an instrument rather than trying to control software with a generic midi controller. Folks who have used hardware (such as MPC or Electribe) know that this means more productivity and efficiency. And more fun. This means browsing and loading samples all from the hardware, sampling, editing waveforms...etc. all from the hardware without having to click around with a mouse or look at the computer screen. Also, Maschine integrates a very powerful step sequencer with visual feedback via LED-lit pads. And Maschine's own session view-style pattern sequencer that allows you to record real-time automation which Live's session view still can't do. And Maschine integrates really well with other hosts, especially Live due to its versatility in ways of working with it. For example, you can just drag the Maschine patterns into Live as audio or midi clips and then arrange it all in Live. Or you can do it all in Maschine's sequencer while triggering plugins and clips in Live. Maschine also had the APC/Launchpad-style matrix launching mode many months before APC40 was even released. It also makes a fabulous midi controller due to its two LCD displays and an excellent template editor.
