looking for a nice screencast software

Post by julienb » Sun Apr 04, 2010 6:49 pm

Hello,
I'm looking for a nice screencast software (opensource & free, if possible)

I'd need to make a little protodeck demo and I'd like to use my DV cam + a screencast capture in order to make a nice cut and include one video inside the other after (post prod)

any ideas? tips?

here you go - assuming u´re on a mac....
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

>v< - that´s the question today

...the work of production is reduction...

some music

If you are on a Mac and have snow leopard, then just use the Free Quicktime Screencast feature.

http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp

This is what I use for the sonic tuts if I have to use PC... you cant record computer audio AND mic at the same time.

screen flow on the mac is an amazing program.

Free for windows, you got camstudio, but not really user friendly.
+Not always a good result in terms of quality.
CamStudio files

I've just seen there's a brand new version 3.0.0, let's give it a try.

And camtasia is the best but expensive.[300$]
The smart focus feature is really good and their codec is amazing, good compression and high quality.
they have ported it to mac.

You can fully try the software for 30days

EDIT: one last, WINK. http://www.debugmode.com/wink/

I have used CamStudio, it is very straightforward and works well. At the time I used it, Camstudio was not recognized as a video capture device by other apps.

I now use Screen Recorder from http://zdsoft.com, it is recognized as a video device by other capture utilities and also ustream.com. It comes as a full featured demo version, and I liked it enough to buy it (30 or 40 bucks I think it is).

[edit] Camtasia is very full featured for doing high grade tutorial stuff, but it is expensive.
UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.

Yeah camtasia is freakingly expensive.

Thanks for screen recorder i'll give it a try _ I installed the 30days trial of camtasia last night, will make a little "tuto" to show how I use the beat repeat and Dummy clips.
I will try on both apps to see what can be done.

best.
