... problem here seems to be that Ableton has not yet accepted that besides common usage
Live is more and more used as a flexible playback machine, not only a loop trigger machine.
And people dont want to just playback whole songs, but wanna be flexible even with longer clips,
and this is the reason why they want to be able to trigger without thinking about lengths.
... f.e. if you wanna change from a clip that is 32 bars to another that is 64 bars and from there
to another that has 8 bars, and all sound quite the same generally - how to set trigger mode ?
And when to trigger WITHOUT looking at the status bar of the clip? Right now you HAVE to know
when you approach the end of the momentary clip (while e.g. singing... or playing a guitar solo !!!)
and then be lucky enough to push the trigger button within the given time, to timely switch to the next
clip...
Perfectly YES. We need this 'when Clip ends' / 'play to clip end' follow action feature.
Did anyone check out MaxForLive yet with S4racens new patch ? Does that make Live our
desired
song-structure-with spontaneous-looping-and-back-to song playback machine ??

The next version of the patch due this weekend is very stable, sadly i've had to remove the option of being ble to set a 1 beat and half bar loop from one button, as an alternative however i can now set a start and end point manually and halve and double any loop set....
I'll post a screenshot to show what i mean when i get home...
Cheers

This seems like a no brainer and a deficiency I've come across before as well.

Yes, yes, yes. I just discovered this thread trying to figure out how to do this exact thing. This *seems* like a simple request, hopefully the Abes are listening?

Exactly. With a few seemingly minor adjustments, Live could be the most wonderful generative music tool.
Live has a handful of features that only work with warped &/or looped clips. If these features were made available to unwarped/non-looping clips we'd have a beast of an application!

clearly a must to have : simply loop on the fly CLIP A, leave it for a whiiiiile, unloop it, then when it reach the end of CLIP A, CLIP B starts playing !
