Diamond Tremolo, Fulldrive 2, Z.Vex BOR, Empress Delay, Line6 DL4,
into a Fender Amp

Looping this stuff with Live

I tried various Plug-Ins, but like a lot of guitarists,
I love the sound of real tubes
I don´t know why this is, but who cares as long as it sounds good

cheers

The issue with amp sims is dynamic response- picking velocity is handled beautifully by tube amps, and there's no substitute for speakers pushing air- recordings just have more heft and depth.

That said, amp sims are really pretty great nowadays. Of the ones I've used, IK's Amplitude is maybe the most realistic in terms of playing response. This is most noticeable with a clean sound. Line6 PodFarm has the best effects, especially the platinum version. For overall sound in a mix though, I think Waves GTR is the best. I haven't used Guitar Rig but NI make great stuff. Waves have frequent sales, GTR Solo was around $99 a while ago. You need an ilok but that would be my recommendation. They're all good though. Not sure but the full package of all these brands is probably around $200-300 U.S. so not much difference in price.

ah. missed this thread.

I'll be using Vandal - sounds great for reamping my guitarists tracks. (still using the demo version but after convincing the 'familiy budget holder' I'll buy it) ;-)

And for my basses I use a Boss GT-10B http://www.rolandus.com/products/produc ... arentId=46 (Hardware /w USB Audio IF).

I like guitar 4 as well as the guitar effects that come with the Mercury bundle from waves.....

I am just using them as effects not even running my old girl (ok a few old girls  ) thru the programs due to the latency that drives me crazy

Go download some demo's and check all the stuff that people suggest
In a K induced Haze (the old K kind not the special K kind ), but an Asian spizz can sometimes bring me out! If ya don't get it, ya never will.

I like the Line 6 stuff myself, use a Pod X3 here, but I've owned all the Pods over the years. Great sound, awesome interface, simple to use.

Da-dahhh!

I am sooo in love with this baby.
I've messed with a couple of others including the Randall and a home made one, but this one is the kings shit and the dogs bollox!!!
It cuts the sound by about 30dB, if i open the door on it i can start getting all kinds of feed back goodness happening, but then its loud again :(
Still... being able to play the dynamics of the amp and the strings is well worth it. 8) 8) 8)

I'm impressed..I used to have a homemade one...
the bummer is these boxes are naturally not that good for the bass...or low ends..

I might be moving to the countryside in the summer..
gonna make sure to get a place with distance from other people...a house on the hills
then I'll let it rip... I enjoy playing in high volumes...and have the means...
(big ass bass-amp and a drum-set)
I'll be moving A LOT of air...

The SS has some kind of baffling in the back behind the speaker, i think its probably some kind of panel arrangement that deflects the mid and bass resonance. The actual cab its self has a natural resonance that comes out through the SM57, but the SM57's character tone filters those out and EQ8 takes care of the rest. The whole cab records like a small 12" cab, not surprising really... but has a bit more body to it than the single 12" amps i have been used to. If i open the door on it and add a condenser into the mix it starts to sound a bit bigger. Not as tone bending as a pod, but then again i only really used the JTM45 model on that any ways, besides, i love my real amp and can get great tones out of that bad boy, any thing beyond that i get from live devices and a couple of distortion/fuzz/booster pedals.

A side note; I've been using amp sims for years as using a real amp up loud was just not convenient.
Now i'm back in the land of actual amps i'm amazed at how bad my technique has gotten. Tube amps are relentless at amplifying each and every sound and seem to really enjoy pointing out your bad string grabs, fret slips, pick misses and bad timing..
