yes, it is real. several close friends encouraged the endeavor, so we extended the proposition to a few more. ten were made in total, four of which we’re offering to the public through an auction. we don’t see a broad market for such an obtuse (yet beautiful) device but saw this as an opportunity to actually bring it into existence, if only on a microscopic scale. we do not expect to make these again. much hand wiring was involved, much wood finishing and care for detail, and in the end we’ve been reminded that we began monome as artists, not business people. so, here it is.
discussion on the monome forum is here.
current lowest bid: $3000 (updated 4/5 9pm EST)
(if you already bid $3000, you’re still in. new bids should be above $3000.)
ends at april 10 at 1pm EST. convert to your local time zone. we’ll be updating the number above regularly.
to submit a bid, e-mail [email protected] with your country and bid amount in the subject line. US shipping is free. international shipping is $100 (this will cover about half of the actual cost). buyer is responsible for duty and import tax.
if we receive a high bid within 5 minutes before 1pm EST, we’ll update the number above and extend the auction until no higher bid has been received for 5 minutes, attempting to emulate a live auction as closely as possible.
we have four devices available. top four bidders have 48 hours to pay. high bidders will receive e-mail invoice from googlecheckout, allowing payment via major credit cards.
