Before I buy RC-50 Loopstation - Can I do this in Ableton?

if you want something that you easily can take with your guitar and loop away, get a pedal.

In order to loop with live you need a decent soundcard with low latency, a decent laptop, and a foot controller. This is a lot of stuff to carry around and to set up. But if you already have it standing there, or if you don't mind setting all up, then Live of course offers a universe of possibilities that a loop pedal can't offer.

not the bland 3-4 chord stuff you hear with simply another layer of sound inserted every few bars and then subtracted over 5-6 mins where all you are left with is the feeling of monotony.

But, I was going to say, you already have live, upgrade to 8.1.3 to rid yourself of the crashing issues and then work out how to do what you want to do.

If you can't do it buy the pedal. I am pretty sure you can though, live is flexible beyond belief really, you just need to put some thought into how you're going to do what you want to do.

I use sooper looper and a midi foot pedal. Pisses on the loop station which I had and sold.

I am looping in live without the looper, just audio clips. Very happy with it, for years.
