Extract from video

Post by Nickswardson » Sun Apr 04, 2010 9:48 pm

Hello

I recently watched a movie where i heard a bass line which i really want to sample and use in a song. I tried looking for the track on the internet but i cant seem to find it anywhere, it's not even in the soundtrack. I got my hands on movie .AVI and now im wondering how exactly i can extract the part i want from the movie.

Another thing, the part of the bass line also has a mellow slight kick and a loud clap in it. Is there a way how i can remove those in the EQ? Im wondering if it is impossible without hurting the bass since the kick lies it the same frequency area. On the other hand i'm a beginner so it would be good to hear some thoughts.

thanks

Look for a file converter, from avi to wave or mp3, I did it the other day with a youtube video just for kicks. Im not really sure if converting it messes with sound quality, it probably does(based on the program you use). For the clap if its the same freq as the bass then an eq would probably not help you, not sure what i would do.

On mac you can use Soundflower to record audio from your avi player straight to ableton. Windows has soundtap which is kinda similar but not free if i remember right.
