writing automation with Spectrasonics without hardware?

Post by emankayker » Wed Apr 07, 2010 10:24 pm

Hi
I am now using live on a laptop with minimum hardware and just watch the spectrasonics tutoriel talking about automations
http://support.spectrasonics.net/instru ... videos.php
they explain that the basic mixer can be automated with the mouse but all the other parameters need to be recorded with a midi controller assign to it. But the tutoriel is quite old, they used live 5, anything new since then?
My goal would be either to assign an automation lign to a midi number inside the live session and draw curves or even better to automate it with the mous.
But I'd like to avoid having to carry another piece of equipment... or maybe my iphone would do it?
cheers

I don't have stylus rmx but I do have trillian and omnisphere. Since Live 8 you can easily automate and edit parameters within these progams by right clicking on the knob you want to automate and choosing 'allow automation in host program' (or words to that effect, I don't have Live open in front of me) then clicking configure on the vst instrument then going back to the VST and turning that instrument. You will then have a dedicated automation lane for that parameter.
