basic midi (*.mid) question
I spent a good hour using this website tool http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/piano/( saving tons of chords and scales as individual .mid files. I'm not a keyboard player, so i thought i could save these .mid, put them in Live and save them as midi clips for quick use in future.
When I need a Cmin7 there it is! Well no it's not.
I can play any of these .mid in Win Media player and it will be the windows synth
Why can I not put this *.mid on a MIDI track in Ableton - it's an empty clip?
What a waste of time, what did I do wrong?

Re: basic midi (*.mid) question
I was only able to save as .pl files, which apparently is perl, which is not midi. .mid files do work in Live. .pl files do not.sailordrift wrote:I spent a good hour using this website tool http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/piano/( saving tons of chords and scales as individual .mid files. Re: basic midi (*.mid) question
When I tried to open one of the MIDI files from this website in Finale, it told me that it was a type 0 MIDI file, which Finale does not support. Maybe Live has the same problem, but just isn't as vocal about it.

Re: basic midi (*.mid) question
thanks for all your help everyone.
Never knew about type 0 or type whatever before.
Interesting, but at least someone is onto something...
was msyterious to me (and frustrating) as I felt it was a great waste of time
- then again, I learned a little bit of music theory in the process
