Hi, I'm fairly new to ableton and I'm just trying to get used to its work flow. The main problem that I'm having is with how the program ties in loops to the songs global tempo. I constantly find myself getting frustrated trying to match up one loop with another, only to find the two loops getting out of sync only a couple of bars later. I've tried timing it perfectly, matching the loops beat for beat but no matter what they always seem to get out of sync.
Is there an easier way to go about this? Thanks.

Re: new to ableton, question about tempo
When I get frustrated with warping I try messing with the Looper plug..
It's tricky, and I'm not sure if I ever really got it working but the theory is, that you would play the sample, unwarped and just tap the looper when you want the loop start/stop, and it should make you a good loop with the right tempo, just like it would if you were playing a guitar into it or something like that.. not sure if it really works tho, it's just a theory that I might have tried and failed but it's worth fiddling with.. maybe.

I am also fairly new to Live and I have the same problem. I cannot get my loops to remain in sync. Say that I have recorded a drum loop from a drummachine at 120bpm in audio. I warp it and loop 2 measures of it. I then record a bass loop and the keyboard pads from my hardware synths (using the built in metronome to make sure that I am not sloppy..). But no matter what, my loops never stay in perfect sync.
What is wrong with me???? Am I that stupid. I think I have set the loops correctly. I have warped them. They just never stay in perfect sync. After say 30 seconds the timing gets really sloppy. It used to be tight in the first 10 seconds..
Should I give up and move back to Logic? I am just so mad.

Hello there
Does this help http://www.medwaystudios.com/Ableton-8- ... orial.html?
You should also make sure that your global quatization is NOT at none
Check if your clips has exactly the duration you want it to have, this you do in Clip View, the first box under length should have values such as 4, 8 or 16, if you are into that sh*t. The next boxes should have the values 0.
This could also have something to do with your buffer size and recording latency/driver error compensation, because if your monitor is set to AUTO or IN while you record, Live will record the latency, with monitor OFF it will compensate.
Also make sure you have routed all your tracks to the master.
Hope this helps!
Peace out.
