I need an envelope vst effect that can be re-triggered. Clues?

what do you want to achieve? i would suggest to try the compressor and sidechain the audio with itself. play with attack and release. i haven´t tried that, it could work. hope that helps! best, alex

Ahyeah, side chain to itself.. thats a good trick for drums.

2 examples:
A. When using some synths for drum sounds, that has bad built in envelopes.
B. Creatin Dubstep gating on any bass source.

i forgot something! how about drawing an automation curve on the track itself or in the clip via envelope automation? you could create your own envelopes with the utility plug or the trackvolume.

Sidechain Gate can be used for all kinds of cool things. Adding sub to a kick for instance; create a track with a pure sine wave or filtered square wave, set the pitch to where you want it (low), side chain it to the kick. You could use a gate to control the envelope of a sound. You could even make a short note into a long note by flipping the gate's settings around.

Thanks for the links! I have tried the KVR ones already, but the 2 others was new.

Clip envelopes are tricky, because they introduce some latency. It doesn't sound good on rhythmic material, when timing is important. Also, im trying to build real time systems. Theres a lot of cool sound design tricks that can be done with Lives audio routing. But right now, im looking to build something realtime. Not necessarily for the stage, but I like the idea of having most things realtime.

I was hoping for the auto filter plug, but it didn't sound good as envelope for bass and drums.

However, I already use a gating trick, like you suggested with side chaining of the Gate plug. Might be it.

And you can tap the kicks midi signal into another sampler which plays a very short click, and use that click as side chaining signal for the Gate. Thats how I do it in my template for ducking.
