I would vote for a nice GUI too, a GUI can do some kinda placebo, if it works it works.
Would be nice if you could choose between a updated GUI and the standard GUI, to keep all satisfied.

Yep - GUI is great - clean, simple, no distractions. Keep it as it is.

Even the automation-lane-value-thing posted on the 1st side of this thread looks nice :)

I don't mind the GUI style, I think it's nice and functional.

But what it really needs is to be more effective colorwise:clips should have a background-color, at least with some opacity. Freezed tracks become completely frozen-color and hide the original track color. Small things like these make a Live set hard to read and navigate.

A live project in an arrangement view can be a mess and if you see any project in Logic and Pro Tools, it's obvious that they do this better.

Please DON'T touch the GUI!
I never liked all those flickering/blinky/bright/fancy stuff that keeps you off concentrating on the important stuff.

Live's GUI was THE first thing that I liked about the program. Coming from Digital Performer 5's gray background it was a breath of fresh air. Please don't change Live's GUI.

indeed. leave the ui. it's suitable for staring at for hours on end. unlike most audio software. which is why it rocks for making music.

the live gui is a huge attraction for me. i get very turned off by "realistic" looking software.

guys, reread the the first post, no one said that he wants a pseudo realistic GUI. I said that a bit of tweaking wouldn't hurt in my view (like the aliasing from automation lanes in live 8 for example). but it's about enhancements for a better overview (like track colours).

Yup small adjustments, and something like this too.

Darker mix panel, no fancy stuff, just more adjustments to choose from.

^ same goes for the background color of the mixer area in the Arranger vs. the background color of the tracks themself..
