rubber buttons eat my smoke...

All those rubber buttons look so disgusting after a while, be it padKONTROL, APC, XBOX remote, whatever...
Anyone got cleaning tips or will i just have to live with it (guess so)?
I know smoking's bad for me and my toys, mmmkayyy.

Some plastic/rubber gets yellowed in sunlight.. not sure if it applies to artificial light but idk..

but some times not right away. a week later you might think... "i really shoulda binned that sooner"

Do not use alcohol as it will deteriorate and dry out the rubber. You don't want to do this which is why I suggested RP7.

Well, to me it almost looks like the smoke somehow reacts with the rubber and discolors it (and not "sits on top").
Not that big a deal...Anyway, anyone wanna try to sand their buttons?

alcohol will also expand the rubber and dry it out as you're working it in. Rp7 has lubricating properties yes, but won't harm rubber like alcohol does. Four years as a copier tech has shown this. I used to use isopropyl alcohol to clean copier rollers until senior techs told me otherwise, made a huge difference to the performance of the pickup rollers.

The smoke actually gets deposited into the pores of the rubber creating the yellow color. Regular cleaning should keep this from happening, but if it's already occured you might be SOL. Alcohol would probably be alright if you don't over-do it, but I doubt it would get rid of it. Not sure about RP7
