Is there a way to select Operator presets via Midi clips?

Maybe I have missed somethign obvious but is there a way for a MIDI clip to choose one of the presets in Operator?

I am putting together a live set and I want an Operator on a midi channel that changes presets based on what clip I play it with. I have tried via the built in program changes but I can't get it to work.

The only way i know is to open a second instance of the instrument. Well, its not comfortable and cpu-friendly.
The Prob is, operator, impulse, simpler are instruments whitout Programm-Change in the "old" midi-way. I wish ableton would implement an option, to change presets (variations) which is "unlinked" from midi-file or whatever, only a remote-order would do this. (maybe in impulse it is a little complicated because the samples have to come from hd into ram, but if you use the same sample-set you could change the "synthese" parameters without noises.) Unfortunattly we are not in Whishland, but who know;)

but boy it would be easy to make a short midi clip with no notes and follow actionso impulse wouldn't freek when you change the preset

If you are recording into arrangement, changing presets in Operator or Simpler etc will be stored if the form of all the parameters changed when changing presets. Not so easy to edit but some kind of work around.

hmm that's true but you still can't export a midi file that will contacin that information.

I would like to keep a few channels reserved in my live performance setup to contain Operators. It would be so good to be able to drop in Midi clips like audio clips. This means I would have to be able to export midi clips (and they would contain current states of whatever Ableton instrument they were controlling).

My workaround is this (and it sucks). Ahead of time I save presets in the instrument preset list from all the other Live sessions that used oeprator. Then I carefully name and categorize each of the presets and export the MIDI note info. Then on my master Live setup (what I will use for performance) I import all the Midi clips, (which have been named after the OPerator preset they should use) and then I have to manually select new presets for operator as I progress through my set.

Seems dumb, I know they will have to change this eventually if they want us to use Operator as a staple element to performing live.

yeah that is the same way i work with impulse...name the clip the preset...it's all that mouse hunting that gets anoying, but who wants to hear the same drums for over an hour???
