Need Traktor Tips or Share your general DJ tips!

Post by Nav » Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:31 am

Hey

OK I have been a vinyl DJ for years and happily beatmatching records no problem, but I want to up my game. Now I have Traktor Pro and the Traktor Kontrol X1 suddenly I am in to the world of using the FX.

I can happily just blend records and starting to try out the FX, but don't want them to sound over-used or crap.

What do you guys do to make your sets more interesting or your blends better?

For example I was reading yesterday about looping a buildup with reverb and a filter to make it longer so that the tension in the club got really crazy before dropping the beat back.

Just want to be a better & more interesting DJ.

Cheers

Exactly what you did. 8) Learn the Tool, master the tool. Break the tool.

Thrill the masses.

djtechtool.com

lots of traktor folks who are solid over there

Look into smart mixing since you got traktor and ableton (if you have not already)
In a K induced Haze (the old K kind not the special K kind ), but an Asian spizz can sometimes bring me out! If ya don't get it, ya never will.

Swing like your life depends on it

I use Ableton too, but I actually prefer the more 'traditional' feel I get out of traktor. If I want to do Live performance/remixes I will use Ableton.

I like the hot cue jamming and on the fly looping I can do with Traktor.

I am sure there must be DJ tips that can be shared no matter what platform you use?
