Hey all,
So, I have been writing/playing for years but i am a pure newbie at this whole recording thing. I have been using Live to record some of my music (your typical garage band stuff, no dj stuff). I have a few basic questions that i hope you guys can help me out with.
So i figured out how to use Live and have recorded a few tracks but noticed that there is a lot of white noise and the quality isnt all that great. So i was told from another forum that my problem with audio recording.
I am using a HP pavillion laptop which has no line input, only a mic input. I have connected a regular Shure mic (not condenser) to it. Heres that sad part, try not to laugh. I have preamped it using this old kareoke box thing (im not sure how else to describe it haha).
So heres my questions:
1) I noticed that there is a lag during recording. Eg) I record a rhythm guitar track and when i record vocals, bass etc over it, it records with a delay and i have to go back and reposition the clip after. Any idea why this happens?
2)The White noise problem: Other than the fact that the mic could be picking up noises like fan noises, is that extra noise likely to do with my sound card? when i check the settings it says default device is: Advance ac97 Audio. Im not sure if this is good or not
Thanks
