Ableton LIve 8 Suite - good Jazz guitar sound for a solo

Post by RCUS » Mon Apr 12, 2010 9:48 pm

Trying to help my friend out with a project and being a dance music guy i'm not so familiar with Ableton's resources concerning good Acoustic / Jazz Guitars.

I'm trying to find a good sound or perhaps some tips on making a synthesized Jazz / Acoustic guitar sound legit. I currently have a solo going using Tension thats sounds mediocre at best, but i'd like to spice it up since it's actually playing alongside two actual acoustic guitar loops. He's looking to get Jack Johnson esque solo vibe, but I neither have the time or resources to hire a session musician tonight =). Pretty sure Jack Johnson is booked tonight too LOL and unfortunately i am only a master of the boom chick boom chick!

I'm going to do my usual internets search, but if anyone can chime in on your particular fav, or tips within Ableton Suite to get this kind of a sound it would be much appreciated!

a made a little track about one year ago using some edited tension guitars:
the music is not very jazzy, but the sound of the melody ist very close to a jazz guitar.

you can download it here:

if you have the kontakt sampler by native instruments, have a look at this:

I'll have to check that out when I'm by my computer tomorrow! I ended up going with tension too and i did a little fancy midi work by slightly moving the lower notes for each chord ahead in time to get more of a strum sound. overlapping transitionary notes tends to sound pleasant at times and adjusting velocity fir each note individually gives it a more human sound. Also added a little phaser action. :)

I'm with you guys on hiring a guitarist even though some of you can't spell it LOL JK!

I'll post the finished product when I'm cleared to do so :) and take a look at your link! Thanks for the suggestions though!
