I Love making samples
I Love making samples
Stupid, but I do. To the point that I'm seriously considering a business venture into the world of sample/loops library for sale type of thing.
Any advice, suggestions how I might enter the arena?
Not looking to amass a fortune, but wouldn't mind staying afloat enough to keep at it full time.
Thanks in advance.

Re: I Love making samples
I've heard of guys coming up with sample sets then approaching TrackTeam Audio, Puremagnetik and/or the Covert Operators to sell it for them.
In my life
Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

Re: I Love making samples
You better make sure you have some totally kick ass samples, or something totally original which will light a fire, because about another 40,000 dudes have the same idea, in a very saturated market.
Forget about multisampling instruments - unless you can afford to hire Ocean Way Studios, take top of the line mics like a pair of Neumanns and top end mic pres and have at least 8-10 dynamic layers of each sample in a top studio at 24/96, it's already been done and done to pristine level, by many top selling samples etc. such as Ocean Way or Steven Slate drums or the myriad of pianos such as Ivory or stuff from East West and Vienna S.L.
Beats samples - Big Fish audio, G-Force, Sonivox, Loopmasters, etc have the market sewn up with many many sample packs from top well known respected producers in every genre of music imaginable to man.
Good Luck though, if you have some fresh ideas which aren't out there, I tip my hat to you.

Re: I Love making samples
i did this pack
http://www.soundstosample.com/info/Othe ... _Drums/114
that you'll find in many stores, and sold quite well.
i've done a second pack without any results.
aproach all of the web retailers with a pack of at least 200 mb. if it's good they'll take it!

^ Awesome.
I'm thinking of gearing most of my energies toward Live packs in particular, drum racks, sampler,a few of my more choice Abe presets and of course loops.
Dip the toes so to speak.
All very good advice, thanks.

Definitely need to consider a niche market. All the others have the market cornered for most all genres. I wish you much success!bodhi71 wrote:I'm thinking of gearing most of my energies toward Live packs in particular, drum racks, sampler,a few of my more choice Abe presets and of course loops.
Re: I Love making samples
It is a crowded market but fun none the less. dont expect to get rich, but I make a decent income out my libraries:
