looking for free mailing list host for bands/labels

Anyone know of a free, or per-transaction service for mailing lists?

Every single one I can find is a monthly charge for anything with over 1,000 accounts in it. I do not spam my customers more than once a month (well, on twitter I do) so it makes no sense to pay $10 a month to send one email when i can buy an entire hosting package for that amount and host it myself (plus more).

Anyone know of a mailing list service where you can pay per email blast? rather than monthly?

Check on Bandmix.com and Reverbnation. Good place to start.

Thanks. I'll look at bandmix. I know ReverbNation only lets you send to that many users for a monthly fee for their "pro" account.
