Which one? NI Audio 2 DJ, RME Babyface or Apogee Duet?

Post by skeet » Thu Apr 15, 2010 2:40 pm

Hey Folks!

I'm curious about a good Soundcard just for (good) 1-2 Stereo Outputs.
Have seen these three options for my needs.
Has anyone any recommendations on these tiny ones for me?
Let me know!

The Babyface doesn't totally exist yet, but that would be my pick.

Just got the Audio 4 DJ and I think you ought to go for that with the extra outs and ins.

I've only used it once and could hear a difference in quality and volume compared to other gear.

$175 usd

I have the Audio 2 DJ. It's ace.
Some stuff, and some other stuff. Honest.
Currently on a huge and mostly pointless promotion drive, come play:
Soundcloud!
Facebook!!
Twatter!!!

For the studio I use the RME Fireface 800 with Extension... Excellent.
As I bought Traktor Scratch a while ago the Audio 8 DJ was included. Nice thing.
But as my Live-Setup will be mostly Controller-based I just wanted a nice good sounding
"small" Unit for 1 or 2 Stereo Outputs and in best case good Headphone Output
for the AKG 701 so I don't need to put it in the Macbook Pro's one for producing
somewhere else than in Studio...

Duet- useless for DJ only 1 stereo out.
Babyface- anything else will be unworthy your 701

Oh my God...this thread is exactly what I need. Can anyone using the NI AUDIO 2 DJ (or another NI AUDIO DJ) please explain how you route the outputs. Everything I do comes out of output A. I activated both outputs in the audio preferences. I tried playing with the A/B on Ableton Live 8 and no luck. I just want to have output A be the main output, and B for headphone and cueing.....any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

John
