I don't know what being a student would have to do with liking the music or not. Just different styles for different tastes. Like, I just checked out your stuff, and it sounds really good, but not at all what I like. Just different flavors.

As far as quality goes, your's is much higher, but you're also all digital. Its a lot harder to record and mix analog instruments and vocals than to create completly digital works. (at least as far as sound quality goes, not in creativity)
