Q.) Ableton Courses

Hello,

Has anyone here taken the courses available at: abletoncourses(dot ) com? If so, did you feel that it was worth it?

I am considering taking their 'advanced' courses, or their 'two for one' deal, but I just can't help but gawk a bit at the price (especially when compared to similar resources such as the ever helpful Groove3).

I can't speak about the courses you mentioned but maybe you would like to check ours out as a viable alternative? We will shortly be releasing our tutorial videos as a stand alone package without tutor feedback and project support if that is your preference.

Not familiar with it. I learned a lot from the Berklee Advanced Ableton course, the Introduction course you could learn from the built in lessons and the videos on Ableton's site. The one you mention is certainly worth investigatin I would think.

Yeah, I thought about looking in to Berklee, too. I just feel I need a bit more formal training in Ableton, but I just may be incredibly wrong. Thanks for the input though, AH.

I'm currently on Week7 of the Quantize course and would highly recommend it. I'm an intermediate Ableton user and have learnt a huge amount from it.
The format is as follows:
1. Weekly Videos and assignment downloads
2. Hour-long weekly chat (about the topics covered in the videos, the assignment, your previously submitted assignment and pretty much anything else you want to know re. Ableton or music production.
3. Assignment submission - Quantize (Keith) is available via email if you have any questions.
4. Assignment Video feedback: You get a personalised video reviewing your assignment and also your Ableton project with recommended modifications for you to explore.

Throughout the course you produce a track with each lesson going into detail the different parts of the production process (e.g. sound design / synthesis, drum pattern creation, fx creation, arrangement, mixing) all done in Ableton so you're learning both music production techniques and Ableton. I looked at the Berkeley courses and I picked this one as the level of individual attention with Quantize (weekly individual chat, email access, video feedback) was much higher. Obviously Quantize was much cheaper also.

So again I'd heartily recommend the Quantize course. Let me know if you have any questions. If you want also I can send you a before and after track from the course as i'm pretty sure there will be a definite improvement when the track is finished.
