firstly, thanks a lot st8 - very cool stuff.

i had no problems getting things working via my wifi router, and had some fun messing with the device macros (named values! switchable banks!!), but noticed some cutouts and latency, so i tried to set up an adhoc network, but so far, no dice. i don't know what the problem is - i've tried everything, and the same adhoc network is easy to connect to when using Oscemote with !INCLUDE's Osceroute max patch, so the adhoc connection works, but doesnt actually connect for this touchosc setup.

any ideas greatly appreciated..?

[edit] never mind, forgot to change the IPs in the "livecontrol_to.txt" file

My created network does indeed have 169.254.xx.xxx for the Mac and iPod Touch. Does this mean it won't work unless I connect via an internet wireless connection? I will need to use this combo in places where I have to setup my own network due to lack of internet wifi.

Thanks!
I didnt think you could use 169.x.x.x ip ranges but it appears from reports that you can, so it should be ok, just make sure you set the correct ips in the config file.

Got it working perfectly on OSX, now to try it on XP...
The trick for me (as Ryan Noise pointed out the other night at the Atlanta Ableton users group) was to create a computer to computer network and use those local and device IP's. Going to try the ad hoc method on XP and see if it works for me.

For mac users do you want to try this out:
http://monome.q3f.org/export/latest/tru ... ol_mac.zip

Its the first draft of an installer. Launch LiveControl.app it'll show you a gui where you can configure your config file and save it. At the bottom if you click browse and select your Live.app it'll make the right path, then click install and it'll install the python files in the correct place. You should then find LiveControl_TO_NoPy in the midi remote scripts list. This also no longer requires you to install python.

This also supports bonjour, so if you start LiveControl.app, then start TouchOSC, TouchOSC should appear in the List of services, click on it and it'll enter the right ip address in the remote field and the right port. LiveControl should also appear in the network preference in TouchOSC so you can automatially configure that ip too.

Try it out and let me know how it goes

just tried the app and it crashes on launch. i can send you the crashlog if you want, but it says that python crashed.
now that it's not needed, what's the best way to get rid of python 2.5.1? i can see the folders in the library - is it safe to nuke the 2.3 & 2.5 and leave 2.6 in there? cheers again

do you wanna download the zip again, hopefully the app is fully standalone now! theres a short pause for 5sec while the app initialises (launches x11), cant get round that at the moment

ST8, how would you implement scene launch on the Clip Launcher page? Seems like the navigation buttons could move to the bottom in place of some of the buttons there (and have those move to another page, or a new page that includes transport controls and commands like undo, redo...etc.), making room for the scene buttons.

Hi Guys,
Thanks to ST8, he's doing a great job.
Please visit his homepage for installation: http://livecontrol.q3f.org/livecontrol/installation/
I'm on winxp and ableton 8.1.1 and it really works on my IPod touch with the app touchOSC.
Sometimes the sending signals get lost or stuck, maybe there will be a panic button on the LiveControl app in the future?

Thanks and cheers

Hi,
I have TouchOSC running on Win XP, but I'm completely new
to Windows 7. Can someone give me hand setting up the iPod
Touch network connection ? It seems like it's ok, but
syncing with the Touch OSC editor does not work.
So I'll delete the generated network again.
Who can help ?

Hi Coupe70,
deactivate your firewall when trying to sync from the OSCtouch editor.
This helped in my case otherwise you get always this massage "..time out.."
Good luck.
