WTF!
WTF!
Hello:
So I have been using RC8.1.3b1 for almost 3 weeks now with almost no probs until today when a mysterious crash has now made it so Live gets hung up on "creating bug report" on startup and never opens up. WTF!!! any suggestions would be appreciated as i am twiddling my thumbs because Ableton Live has become useless!!! and I cant make music no more........

Re: WTF!
Then how does one test the software as if it were a release version?julienb wrote:don't use beta as release version...davidpag wrote:Hello:

you didn't understand my purpose.
you cannot use them as release version
I meant final release version
reading because Ableton Live has become useless!!! and I cant make music no more........, considering beta version makes me laughing.
if you need to be safe, you need to use final release
no?
if the answer is no, and I may not understand all of that.
no problem

Re: WTF!
I'm sure there's no doubt 8.1.3 as a beta is a safer bet than 8.1.1.julienb wrote:ahah

And if nobody makes music with the beta, how do we know its suitable to make music with?
I'm all for backing up and making copies of files, should you need to go back to an older version. But I also won't blame people for getting angry over losing work with a beta. How many people have lost their work with a release version? Probably even more since only a few actually try the beta.
Re: WTF!
that's the point. 8.1.1 (released!) can't be used because it's full of bugs and any newer version creates Live sets which are not downwards compatible.julienb wrote:because Ableton Live has become useless!!! and I cant make music no more........, considering beta version makes me laughing.
true, but anyway: if I can't use a Live set in an earlier version I'll be stuck.hoffmann2k wrote:And if nobody makes music with the beta, how do we know its suitable to make music with?

Re: WTF!
That is what backups are for and it is the worst case scenario. Losing or corrupting work without being able to to go back. It only takes a second to resave a set for a different Live version.smaucher wrote:that's the point. 8.1.1 (released!) can't be used because it's full of bugs and any newer version creates Live sets which are not downwards compatible.julienb wrote:because Ableton Live has become useless!!! and I cant make music no more........, considering beta version makes me laughing.

Anyway, not looking for an argument with you guys. My point was: If people don't use the beta as if they would a release version. Then how do we know the beta performs well?
Re: WTF!
In fact everyone is right.
Julienb meant not using as final release because a lot of people rush on beta or rc and don't do backups of their work, so they often end with projects they can only open with the latest release. Or at worst they get corrupted files.
However we're well adviced each time we download a beta. Make a backup of sensitive data.
Let smoke the peace pipe
And go for beta use

Re: WTF!
whoaa!! just checked back here to see this lengthy discussion.
Personally I would just like to use the latest released version but when I bought my new Macbook with Snow Lepoard, Live 8.1.1 was not stable at all (crashed every couple minutes while working)
I was directed to use beta versions that supposedly have resolved the probs, they worked a lil better then 3 weeks ago a release candidate came out and yesterday it became useless.
At the end of the day, I dont want to be some "beta tester" I didnt pay Ableton Live all the money I have all of these years to test their software, I am a customer and they should provide a product that works ( think toyota??)
If not then Ableton Live should give us our money back until they can get it right.
