Huge Multi band Compression issue

Post by pathosmusic » Tue Apr 20, 2010 1:40 am

Ok so I have been using live for over a year now and love it, but I have recently been doing a number of high end remixes for some record labels... this is where the issue was brought to my attention.

Upon sending my final mix down for mastering, the whole right channel of the mix was being compressed harder than the left, and was louder by almost a full db. This was mainly noticed in the kick drum which brings me to my next concern.

Even with multi band compression turned off on the master channel, the kick drum was right heavy coming into the master channel... while impulse (which is where i had the sample) was LEFT heavy.... how is this even possible. If the channel is left heavy shouldn't it be coming through the master left heavy as well? I never noticed this before and haven't changed any settings, except updating to the newest version of live some weeks ago.

So my main concerns are...
-Why is multi band compression hitting the right channel of the mix harder than the left?
-Why is impulse so inaccurate when showing the pan of a sample?

Thanks in advance for the help!
