New LIVE controller : Allen and Heath XONE:3D !!

Post by faisalbaig » Sun Apr 10, 2005 5:08 pm

Allen and Heath XONE:3D !!
Its like a hybrid MIDI controller / DJ mixer / USB interface.

From www.harmony-central.com Messe coverage :
"Allen & Heath has also unveiled a unique DJ control concept, which will be launched later in the year. The Xone:3D allows the user to manipulate and manage any source--such as mp3, CD, video and vinyl--from a central interface. It is an amalgamation of a fully featured high performance DJ mixer, a top spec multi-channel USB soundcard, and a comprehensive control surface with MIDI and PC connectivity. This versatile product has 14 stereo inputs and 10 stereo outputs, and can simultaneously mix up to 11 stereo signals."

From www.gearjunkies.com Messe coverage :
"The Allen & Heath Xone 3D is a DJ mixer and a full options controller for your software. But not only for DJ software. This mixers has all the MIDI functions inside of a normal softsynth controller. Its in development stage right now, n the Messe they showed a demo model.
The Xone 3D will cost you around 1500 euros."

There is a pic at www.gearjunkies.com look under the Messe coverage.

Its Green and Silver in colour and has the LIVE logo on the 2 midi sections.

What do u guys think ? I understand the concept---but why USB interface ? and it says "PC connectivity" ..... i hope PC means "computer" , lotsa MAC users here!

We need a bigger picture and more info on this.

cheers

Nyne

ps: how do i add a pic to a post here ? i could have added the Xone 3D pic here , but dont know how!! :( [/img]

Sashas controllers looks more appealing. If this mixer included trigger buttons it would win me over.

I suspect this mixer/controller has some neat tricks up its sleeve.

this is an interesting poduct. imagine if every club you played in had decided to have this instead of a xone62/pioneer then would be quite handy.

thats one of the worst looking controllers i've seen. okay its allen & health, but it still looks two ideas cut and shut together.

id love a truly integrated live controller for djing, with soundcard, midi, firewire, and maybe portable if possible with a couple of extra inputs and outputs. it looks like most manufacturers are missing the point. why pay $1,499 for that when you can get by [like me and thousands of others] with a UC-33 and indigo dj for less than $400. club installations aside. you need to have a product you can sell the to masses not just a handful of clubs.

i'm not having a dig at allen & heath coz they know their onions. there just doesnt seem to be much out there to choose from, without taking the plunge and building your own.

@nuperspective

yeah i agree with you.

i suspect that the controller a lot of people want will appear later on this year as manufacturers catch up with what people are doing with live.

I would take Allen&Heath sound quality over Novation any day of the week.

I'd love to see what the thing looks like without those yucky green overlays...

I hate the green! What makes u think its an overlay ??

i dont understand who its for ..... for a midi controller it doesnt have enough encoders ; the interface side is USB ; it looks really big ; its really expensive.

Still i respect AnH and i respect that they r taking a step in the right direction. If they were gonna gonna make a MIDI controller / DJ mixer , why not just start manufacturing the CTRL 92. That looked like an insane controller for Live.

I'll wait for AnH to release more info about this before i pass judgement though.

still , the green has to go!!!

ciao
