Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
I'm going to go to the music store at the weekend. I've just sold a bassdrum pedal on eBay (£120) and could probably shift an impulse purchase pair of hats for another ton. Get the Block sold (£250?) and then we're LAUGHING!
She really would kill me if I up and bought it...

here is a thread where I explain my live setup with Live 7 + motu ultralite + Maschine plugin (2 instances) + hardware synths (could be softsynths too)
the ability to merge the 2 in one great music workstation is incredible, even if the midi department of maschine could be upgraded, and ableton could update their VST midi reception (mono channel...),
it's pretty mean to trigger maschine scenes from live clips and live scenes / clips from maschine sequencer!!!!
and the VST has 8 audio outputs, that allow complex routings and treatments in live,
and each instance can be individually midi accessed by and access to distinct live tracks...
ABleMaschine is a frakking brilliant duo!!

How cool is Maschine if you're not really into that whole "tactile" sample management? I've already got a PadKontrol, and
I've got a Launchpad. I've always done my sampling on the computer anyway, so I doubt there would be any feeling of "coming
home" if I were to get a Maschine. Also, it looks about as interesting as a cardboard box when it's switched off

Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
Does it have LFOs?

Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
lots of LFOs
but you won't manage to assign them to live devices.
maschine's midi needs better implementation, it's not yet a full midi workstation sadly, and live doesn't support full VST midi communication...
but I got faith in NI, a "maschine pro midi workstation edition" uppgrade will come one day!
cheers

sorry delicioso, that was just my idea of being funnydelicioso wrote:You can do whatever you want. Maschine + iPad (LiveOSC) will be my dream setup. thank you for your swift & informative answers,
and thanks to the OP and all the other contributers to this thread.
It changed my perception of Maschine from "Ignore yet another fucking controller"
to "Fuck! Keep an eye out for that one, and start saving!"
I'm going home

Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
it's not about the coming home aspect, it's about putting the power of your computer into a controller with tighter integration than you can get with any other controller basicly, so you can still do your computer thing but just in a much more intuitive way, what if ableton made a hardware version of Live, basicly maschine is the closest thing to something like that, though you still need the computer, it doesn't have to feel that way cause you don't have to look at it, or you can not look at the maschine controller and just use the software, but one thing maschine is not is about, feeling like a hardware groove sampler, it feels different, it gives your computers futuristic capabilities a down to earth easy to access front end.sporkles wrote:How cool is Maschine if you're not really into that whole "tactile" sample management? Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
bingo, it is not just another groovebox, it is so much more and some of it is seriously indescribable until you just had once the experience playing with it.starving student wrote: but one thing maschine is not is about, feeling like a hardware groove sampler, it feels different, it gives your computers futuristic capabilities a down to earth easy to access front end.
it just covers so many aspects and uses (or is able to if you choose it to be) in one sexy unit that your head starts to get dizzy.

Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
RIGHT! THAT'S IT! I'm getting it.
Bass pedal is sold, and I've one set of hats and a snare drum that can go. Once they're gone (shouldn't be too hard) I can tap up the fam for some birthday spends and we'll be up in the air with Maschine!
Had a look at the promo videos for 1.5. It's completely made of win.

Re: @ Tarekith [maschine&live]
- when you sample stuff, can you the modify the sample and "destroy" it the way you can do with Sampler in Live?
- is there a compressor, can you do sidechain compression between maschine instruments/tracks ?
- I read a lot that maschine + Live is the vest combo, but wouldn't maschine + Logic be better? I still have the feeling that maschine + live is a bit redondant.
Cheers
