If you're not concerned about the mix, or plugin settings, etc. can't you just save MIDI clips out and dump all audio to stems and import that into whatever you're moving to?
??? thats what i did the whole summer... hour s and hours and hours... sorry..
hat was the biggest part of the inconveniance with L8..

And its still the biggest inconvinience with live in general.. exporting of content.especially patterns/scenes is horrible..

Right. I get that it's a pain in the ass. I do this with some regularity when I want to work on something in another program where rewire isn't an option, or just not the best way to go about getting things from one program to another.

But moving backwards due to stability issues aside, the only time I've ever really wished for the ability to save things in and old .als format is if I'm collaborating with someone who hasn't upgraded yet. The solution there is just to get my collaborator to upgrade their copy of live (never had to deal with major version differences, eg: Live 7 <--> 8). But in those cases where, say, I'm working with someone with Live 7 and I've got Live 8... I'd rather deal with the pain of dumping stuff out to stems to pass around specifically so that I don't lose plugin stuff, mixing levels, etc, etc.

Why and how often are you really doing this?
