Check out my release

Post by Neil Gard » Sat Apr 03, 2010 2:33 pm

Hiya, Im just dropping in to promote this new EP 'Plateaux' available on itunes and amazon.

You can listen to it all on soundcloud by following this link: http://soundcloud.com/neil-gard/sets/pl ... -neil-gard

Its Original instrumental music that borders on ambient and progressive rock with guests that include; a spanish guitar, a Fender guitar, acoustic drum kit, sampled fret noises to create beats and an electronically controlled violin. All crammed in to 20 minutes of pure audio pleasure.

Some say its a bit like Boards of Canada but i've only known about them properly since yesterday, i bought an album of theirs.

Hope some of you enjoy it, it was made with ableton LIve 7 and 8. :D

Neil I haven't yet checked out your link but will do so later. What I came here to comment on was your signature. That captures exactly how I feel. We live in ever increasingly amazing times in terms of what we can do and how we can go about doing it.

Hi Neil!

I'd recommend hearing Agitation Free's "Through the Moods" if you haven't before, in addition to Boards of Canada's "Peacock Tail" off of The Campfire Headphase.

Yes this is nice.

Maybe all the people posting here a "little more mature", meaning older.

There´s one track of Plaid where they used jazz guitars in a very pleasing way. You know how to play these catchy and fluffy scales too. It´s a pleasure to hear this.

I think it´s time that musicians welcome melody and emotion instead of the latest stuttering fx. That´s why I don´t look that often in this forum section. But it is worth it.
Because, like today, I´ve found something speaking to my heart. Isn´t this what music is supposed to do?

I will listen to this while trying to get familiar with bidule to build some crazy midi modulators :)

But in the end I hope to make useful effects that serve the music rather than dictate it. So for the inspiration I can listen to your music as kind of a role model.

You´ve influenced one guy. Thank you.

Hiya Neil,

Great technique and really nice compositions. My only thoughts about improving it might be to switch round the order of the tracks, maybe start with beads of light or wonderful things?? Just thought this might help to suck the listener in and encourage them to sit through the whole set...having said that it's late and I've gotta be up really early tomorrow but couldn't pull myself away. Thanks  !
