favourite new 8.1.3 feature is 'report a bug'

Post by sidownes » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:17 pm

so much for 8.1.3 being fixed. I've submitted my bug so we'll see what happens, but tbh this isn't looking good

Please note that we are still working on stability issues, and the current bug-fixing effort is ongoing.

Did you submit your bug? Can you explain what happened?

thanks,

Dennis my set is too large to email due to the max4live devices it holds, but 8.1.3 is freezing on me when launching a clip set at 1/32 quantize with repeat as it's launch setting triggered with the mouse....

Cheers

Can you duplicate this in a Set that doesn't contain the MfL devices? I can't reproduce this here....

I too like the "report a bug" feature! That's a good idea.

Dennis, I reported this, but might as well ask for speed sake...

Using 8.1.3 today I'm still getting "pops" when I come out of slot recording. Do you have any suggestions how to work around this? Is there a particular configuration that I should avoid?

Thanks much

about the 'bug reporting' folder: it's 1.4gb after just a few hours' work with Live 8.1.3
that's a shitload of event logging! are the logs auto-deleted after a set period of time, or do they just keep piling up, eating hd space? wondering if i need to manually clean out the folder or not, is all

Did you activate some bug trace feature?
Or it's out of the box?

I only have a few crash reports in there from the betas. Nothing being logged by 8.1.3 so far (and no crashes).

You have slots when recording in Session View as well? From our previous conversation, I thought your issues were reserved to recording across the loop boundary in Arrangement View.

Can you explain more about the situation?

Yes, I've submitted both a couple times, and my list of problems explains the difference. The session view pop occurs when I'm coming out of MIDI triggered slot recording (ie midi clip sends notes via iac driver to control actions in live). When the record closes, there is a pop. That is why in version 8 i stopped using live to record loops, but rely on sooper looper as a plugin.

In my tests yesterday both pops still happen, session view recording and arrangement view punch outs. Haven't had time to test the pops on fades yet. Although I opened and saved a project in 8.1 3 by accident so I guess I'll be using it now

Is this bug reporting in 8.1.3 the same as in the betas? That Live makes a bug report on launch? If so, can that be turned off? Sometimes that takes a long time and right after a crash I may just want to get back to work... It is fine that it is there as long as I am not forced to use it.

well nice add indeed.
I am more pleased with the lack of changelog this time.

user > library > application support > ableton > bug reporting
in-cre-di-ble!!!!

what for an update !!!!

I'm happy I've bought live 7 instead of live 8... I really could NOT stand this un-ending bug fix process, hey, they EVEN MADE A SPECIAL "REPORT BUG" OPTION!!!!

IN-CRE-DI-BLE

"report a bug" folder, ah ha ah aha ha.... Live 7 is the LAST live product I'll ever buy from Ableton (or perhap's will I buy some ableton live 9 or 10 if they totally re-code it and finally increase the midi department that still suck IMHO, but seeing this Live 8 FIASCO, and the time it takes ableton to release THE ultimate update that is still not here... I don't want to pay to beta test a software for years before it's stable...)

meanwhile, maschine users get a huge update for an already-stable-software, that includes lots of stuff that were not bug reports, but user-wished features (and what for some great features, like drag drop midi patterns to host, a brand new effect, a new 8-macro-control per group page, some great audio edition new tools, new "save project with files" option, new sample slicing tools, and so on and so on...

excuse me if I seem a bit mean, but reading the live 8.1.3.2.bb.n4.8.92c change log and comments, and this "report a bug" new folder/option...

Ableton company is dead to my eyes. Why don't tey refund all live 8 users, make public apologies, and retire for some months to reappear then with a real working software???
(I know, that would mean they shoot themselves and kinda commercial suicide, but... )

How can you live 8 users be so patient? How even can some of you still thank Ableton for their "hard work on the debug process", even if live 8 was released more than one year ago?????

I understand one would love live, and that's what I do, I LOVE LIVE 7 (and 6).
But what I can't understand, is why people still think they love Ableton. How can you still love Ableton????

cheers

^^^ you raise some points there... not agreeing with it entirely, but with all my love for live (i would not be so emotional heated all the time if i would not still love it to bits) but they do need to dress warm in the future or speed up a lot, really just plain and simple speed up.

others do not sleep...
