by the way, if someone is a teacher by profession, they need money to pay the bills as well as you or I.

seriously... its only the uncreative people who will cut and paste verbatim and constrain themselves to inside 'the box'. Teaching like Cosms is giving people the foundations and building blocks to write their own music.

I can see the point your trying to make but I think your missing the point generally on this issue.
no..i dont think so...there are many instrument teachers out there...many many... but i never came along such a loud advertisment for the service...

and regarding electronic music its something different again... its really a bit strange that thanks to strange style teachings people that never have been inside a techno related club in theire life know more rules how to do it than people that spend half a lifetime in the scene...

sorry..that is counter productive and dont brings the art of the music forward...

its the same with all the preset sounds in ableton life..one cant erease..or have to erase on any update ...

It is nice that the magic music maker generation can quickly do some genaric techno style msuic..

but for me thats an evil ..

but ok.. the world never would have seen major sucessfull bands like scooter without preset sounds..

its a style of living.. ..and therefore there are no new electronic musical trends since years ,t but a big renesiance of handmade music..
and an overflown market with copycat music that kills all good little lables and dont allows the young talents to ever become professional..at least for a while...
that is sad

thanks to all preset creators...
thanks to easyton live
thanks to tom cosm and alike..

just learn theire preset way to do it.. its quick..its painless..
and in 99% of the cases fruitless..
Quick customer satisfaction

Where has Cosm ever stated that THIS or THAT is the right way to do anything? Fuck. Have you even watched any of his tutorials? Have you? Christ. In several I've seen he even states - FUCKING REPEATEDLY - that this is but one of MANY possible ways to do something. Eat yourself now.

lol. Let me get this straight. You know, for posterity. You're saying that Cosm's workshops/training/tuts are contributing to the downfall of music?

Christ. You've got some hu-hum, yawn fest, utterly unoriginal, desperately tedius ax to grind about the state of music and you're using Cosm as your whipping boy?

There are dozens of people selling Live training courses and instructional videos, some are of better quality than others but no one is forcing anyone to cough up money to buy these DVDs or sign up at these websites for subscription based tutorials etc.

If you don't like Cosm's tutorials then don't buy any but the man has the right, as does anyone else, to make his knowledge available for free, or commercially. There is no law saying that anyone can't make a video tutorial for Live and sell it - and that includes fools who really don't know anything about it. TC at least has spent time and money in getting Ableton certified, and he has quite a number of people who appreciate what he does.

3phase - perhaps you can make or already have made, some superior instructional videos which are not all about preset techno music and maybe you can enlighten us by sharing them ? Or shall we just take pot shots at anyone selling such product, Nick The Zombie, you're next in the firing line  Then Tarekith :P (again - how dare you charge reasonable rates for mastering services, in spite of your free guides !_

Most of us don't live under oppressive regimes which ban people using music for commercial purposes, like that's some kind of evil.

As for Cosm's idea, people are already signing up for it, no-one put a gun to their head AFAIK, so some people obviously do see the merits in his plan ...

what? learning ablton preset styles is like the good ol guitar lessons? ready in 3 days to produce your "own" track?
I think you forgot a bit about the time and pain involved...
This is not instrument teaching here..

besides its not about this guy teaching. he can teach who he wants...its about his attitude...
And turning this forum here to a market place..for a pretty stinky product... no general lesson...
you can waatch the "master" doing a track....

"Genre / BPM A pretty important factor! Any "electronic" genre is available. 60bpm chilled to 250bpm IDM, you basically set the foundation for everything else.
Genre / BPM $100

SOLD
"

Fuck...any genre available... sold... sell out...

sorry ..that stinks...
There are dance schools that offer techno dancing lessons..thats where the cool kids go...

Accusing someone of being a snake oil salesman is slander/defamation of character 3phase.

You got a lawyer ?

This beef you have is totally unreasonable. If you want to sell your music or make your own videos, you're free to do so - this site isn't run by Chairman Mao

Cosm stated his plan up front with all the ramifications. People can take or leave it. That it isn't to your taste is patently obvious, but the mods would have no problem allowing this. Most of us live in a capitalist world where making money is not only acceptable, but also necessary to live. Most of us don't live on a kibbutz or some religious cult where we eat what we grow and have no electricity/tv/radio/internet.

Haha this is hilarious!

I agree with 3phase in that its pretty opportunistic and therefore naturally questionable, but as I wont be donating I dont give a shit.
I have learnt a lot from this Cosm character though, and I also agree with the positivity angle in this case.
I guess if he chooses to give shit away for free, he should get something back from someone at least. Not me tho!

Now how do I get one of those donate buttons?

ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients

ctrl + space = play selection

take it..leave it.. or critizise it.. the forum internal spa preventing mechanism

A lawyer? No real reason to sew the certrifried rainer...shamless selfpromotion and cyber begging is no crime..
spaming on public forums might be bad style but is no crime either...

And regarding the mods...
They also dont have problems when people are called a cunt or talk about doing girls regarding female dj´s and the alike...
So i would think that them not interveening dont automatical says that it´s ok...

just wonder how this anoucement would have been taken if an unknown guy and not the rainer would have done it...

for me he is a unknown guy..have read his webpage a few month ago and had a look to the free tutorials..they are indeed not bad .. not at alll so horrible as what he is selling here..
he maybe should have stick with that former more serious style..
i wouldnt have said anything than.. but this here is really gorilla style..and as the gorilla screams into the jungle..the hammer hits back...

But he should be happy..the noise keeps his spam in the headline...

i know a name for the track..but i dont pay.. i donate it

Maybe there should be a thread here for promotion.

But what he is doing isn't snake oil or spamming. He's offering relevant MUSICAL services to the Live community.
Spamming would be off topic stuff such as xxxhotpornopics here, or cheap viagra, 50% off or super spliff hydroponics buy here...
DO you consider what Nick The Zombie, Tarekith, the posters from covops, trackteamaudio and puremagnetik to be spam too ?

Having a relevant musical product for sale isn't spam. It is a promotion, something which is potentially useful to some users - and maybe time for Ableton to consider a promotions forum ?
