Hey what's up guys,
I was wondering if anyone out there has both these books and recommends either one over the other. They seem pretty similar, but I want to make the best choice.
Thanks,
Dustin

Re: Dance Music Manual Version 2 vs Version 1
Here is what Rick has to say:
I've received a few PM's asking what the difference is between the first and second editions. The second edition is an updated edition of the first (unsurprisingly) but I must stress that it is not Vol.2, it is Vol.1 with updated information.
So what does it contain?
For those familiar with the first edition:
Removed:
The website chapter has been removed (after numerous suggestions/complaints that it did not belong in the book)
The Tools of the Trade chapter has been removed (after numerous suggestions that it dates the book)
Added:
The chapters have been reshuffled to follow a more productive path.
The Music Theory chapter has been updated and some previous editorial errors have been replaced.
Some chapters have been updated to reflect new techniques
A new genre chapter on Drum 'n' Bass
A new genre chapter on UK Garage
A new chapter on Recording instruments.
The CD has been overhauled. The menu that some found confusing along with the demo software have all been removed. In their place are reworked, new audio tracks of each genre, with narration on how the tracks were built and what equipment was used.
You can hear examples of the music on the CD, produced using techniques in the book, using the media player on the DMP home website - www.dancemusicproduction.com
The second edition of the manual is due for release October 13th 2008 and is available for pre-order from most online book stores (although some now have a waiting list).
